Resize rows to fit the tallest wrapped text in one or more selected columns in Google Sheets™.

Overview

ColumnFit adjusts row heights in Google Sheets™ based on the wrapped text in the columns you choose. Each row’s height is calculated from its tallest wrapped text across those selected columns. Text in other columns does not influence the calculation.

Use it when you want row heights to follow specific columns, such as notes or descriptions, without accommodating longer text elsewhere in the spreadsheet.

How to use:

  1. Set text wrapping to Wrap for your target columns.
  2. Select one or more columns.
  3. Run ColumnFit → “Fit rows to selected columns” to resize the rows.

Row heights are estimated using font metrics and column width. Calculations are tuned for Arial; other fonts may require calibration.
